Myron always took his post very seriously at the palace. He normally wouldn't think of interrupting the prince's work. Only it was past lunchtime and one of the servants had mentioned that the prince hadn't taken it. Myron wasn't sure what the prince was actually doing. He wasn't a particularly learned man. He did know it was important. Whatever it was his highness would almost certainly be able to do it better with a full stomach. There was a gentle knock at the study door. Then another for good measure. Then Myron let himself in. There was a lot more on everyone's minds of late but even more so for his highness. Myron was a man of principle so he would have given the prince the respect he deserved regardless but the time he had spent as the man's guard had earned his genuine respect. Myron entered and sort of stood at attention near the door. "The servants are inquiring when you will take lunch, your highness." He asked softly with a hint of concern in his voice. His eyes looking over the reports that the Prince was reading and then the man's face. He imagined that whatever news the Prince might be receiving likely wasn't very good. The raiders had only been growing more bold as of late. The recent events in Wolvstadt worried him deeply. Whether they declared war or not if the raiders continued to move deeper into Manthir his own family lands would soon be included in the border skirmishes.

Jasper had been busy since the moment he returned home. Talks with his father, reading reports, discussing going to Lutra for this peace talk. Which was more than likely just a fools errand. But something had to be done before they just jumped into an all out war. Still, things were stressful for the Prince. Today was no exception.
Jasper had thrown himself into his work. There were a stack of reports he was reading through and a few other papers layed out across his desk in front of him. The Prince hardly ever missed a meal but with how absorbed he was in his work at the moment he'd declined taking his lunch. Letting the servant know he'd eat in a moment. Which had been over two hours ago. Honestly he'd meant to give himself a break he just had entirely forgotten.
So absorbed in his papers he didn't register the first knock. Though the second did catch his attention. "Come in." He said without looking up from his papers. Though at the door opened he dragged his eyes away just long enough to find Myron in his office. A small smile crossed his lips. He was a good man, a good soldier. Jasper had really enjoyed his company and getting to know the man. "How can I help you?" Hearing the concern in his voice made his smile drop.
Lunch. Right. How long had he been working? He still had more to do. Jasper let out and exhausted sigh and rubbed his hands over his face. "I don't....really have time to eat right now."

Well he'd had a feeling that Jasper might say as much. He made his way over to stand beside the desk peer down at the piles of parchment curiously. " will they fly away if you stop long enough to eat?" He asked with a level of earnestness that might have fooled someone less familiar into thinking it was a genuine question. Wherever the papers were going, if it wasn't within the palace than an hour or two made no difference. They would only arrive as fast as whatever courier they went to could take them.
"Besides, your writin' will get all sloppy if you don't take a break." Myron bluffed knowing full and well that he was a terrible judge of good penmanship. It was a rare thing among soldiers and even rarer in his family. More than once he had received quite the sympathetic look from a comrade or two that saw the sloppily written letters he received from home written with so few words that it might have passed for a secret code. Perhaps that was why he admired Jasper's aptitude for this sort of more scholarly work. "Jus a few bites and I'll get out of your hair." He added leaning on the desk in one of the few uncovered patches. "Now what'll it be?" There was a friendly but persistent smile on his face. If there was one thing Myron was good at it was being stubborn.
