The Viscount Lockheed was very rarely seen escorting his wife about the city. He was known to be a kind man, perhaps too much so. Certainly Lady October Lockheed nee Martin had been quite fortunate to catch the man's eye. Or rather, coerce him into marrying her, as most understood it. Most considered the man too weak, too feminine to be of much respect, but his family holdings and fortune, as well as a history of closeness to the crown demanded some attention, even as a lower ranked noble house. House Lockheed wasn't a military power, but a political one. The Viscountess was clearly the power in their relationship and the Viscount was not inclined to debate the topic, much preferring to let his wife determine where the carriage stopped, what she wished to browse and how exactly he spent his money. Pearce was just glad to have company. Shopping was something he enjoyed greatly, regardless of it being for himself or for someone else. It took his mind off of work and other stressful matters. It was also a chance to spend time with Tobi. He held open the door to their most recent stop, always a proper gentleman. He glanced around the interior and then back to his companion. "And what is it you so d-desperately needed from here?" He asked with a smile.

October's family was the military power. Her father raised all of his children to be strong, independent, and powerful. Her marriage to the Viscount came as both a surprise and not at all. Most people didn't expect her to marry someone so soft. Even her father had been surprised when Pearce asked for his daughters hand in marriage. But she was fine being the outgoing one in their marriage. It only meant she got to drag her sweet husband off to be more social.
Shopping was always a good time to spend with Pearce. It was one of the least social things they had to do. Not like going out to a party or a dinner. Her long brown hair was pulled up into a bun and she wore a long, warm maroon colored coat over her soft white dress. As he stepped in with her October linked her arm with one of his and looked around a bit. "I need a new perfume both for me and your sister," Persephone hadn't asked her to buy a new perfume but October had noticed one of the bottles of the girls favorite scent was running low.
"And I thought it would be nice to get you some more lavender soaps," she tempted with a small smile as she led him down one of the aisles. There were glass bottles filled with some different scents. October didn't mind looking but she was here for a very specific order she'd placed a few weeks ago. That didn't mean she couldn't buy some extra stuff too.

Just because many social interactions could be overwhelming did not mean Pearce wasn't social. He liked people. They simply...also stressed him out. Shopping was the right amount of socializing however. Not the higher level of serious politics as a dinner or a party.
Pearce wore a beige and dull green tunic and pants, his coat a maroon to match Tobi's. He kept it closed around him against the cold, not at all enjoying the weather. Perhaps he should be used to it by now but he never was. The man allowed her to link her arm in his and lead them toward the counter. He took a deep breath of all the scents of the perfumist. At least this was a shop he enjoyed too so he wouldn't argue the fact that he was certain both women had plenty of variety of scents to choose fromm
"All of that sounds so n-nice of you," he agreed, picking up a small candle and taking a slow breath in. A bit too sweet for his tastes, but pleasant. He set it back down as October tugged them onward. He stopped at some massage oils and other soaps and perfumes, simply enjoying the scents around them. "T-t-terribly tempting to spent far too much money here," he said, clearly not complaining.

October took a moment to stop and pick up a few candles as well to smell. She did so love a good candle. Perhaps she had far too many of them and perfumes and flowers. She couldn't help that she liked herself and her space to smell nice. October's own bedroom had many candles and flowers around her space with an array of perfumes on her vanity and some of her own personal soaps, lotions, and massage oils that she kept for her baths. She did pick up two more candles before letting her husband go to allow him to look at his own things.
"You worry too much, my love," she chided playfully with a warm smile before she moved to front counter. The girl behind it was a young girl with long brown hair up in a messy bun and a cute round face. She looked up at October with this sort of soft awe struck look. October was already tall for a woman and her heels were enough to make her almost the same height at Pearce. Though she did tend to keep her heels short just so he would always be the taller half of their pairing.
"Afternoon darling, I'm here to pick up an order, October Lockheed," she said sweetly before the girl pulled out a cipboard with some pages of orders on it. Once she saw her name she nodded and set the papers down. "Right away, miss!" The girl said before quickly scampering off to the back. She was such a cute thing.

The Viscount had as much a penchant for pleasing aromas as his companion. From candles to soaps to perfumes to imported incense. He was especially found of lavender of course. It was a calming and relaxing scent, which, at least sometimes, helped him release some of his daily stress. That, almost more than being clean, was why he liked to take a bath nearly every other say.
Worried too much? He blinked. About what? As far as he was concerned, he worried a proper amount. Well, most of the time. Admittedly, sometimes he worried a lot but he couldn't help it.
While October busied herself with picking up an order and more goodies and flirting, Pearce found his own scents to enjoy. Not that he needed anything in particular this moment. Usually when he ran out he simply had a servant run errands for him. But Tobi liked to touch and smell and handle things in person.
He did turn as the shopkeeper called his companion 'miss.' She did look young and pretty and he supposed that suited her much better than 'ma'am'or madam. She looked much more like a 'miss.' He returned to her shoulder. "Do we have any more stops before dinner?" Not that he was hungry, Pearce was never hungry.

October could agree that somethings her husband worried about were indeed good to be worried about. Though even with those she sometimes felt he worried too much. She knew he couldn't help it though, it was just part of his nature. Both he and his sister were terribly anxious things but she hoped she helped calm them down. At least a little bit. She couldn't take away all their discomfort.
October also wouldn't say she was flirting though it was hardly her fault the girl at the counter was so pretty. Just because she was in a relationship though didn't mean she couldn't look a little. When he stepped behind her she turned her head a bit to look up at him and smiled. "There's one more stop with the seamstress and we'll be through," she said as she noticed what he'd picked up. "Find some things you wanted?"
The girl returned with October's order all wrapped neatly and placed in a wooden box to keep everything safe. October had always preferred a personal touch for things. She didn't see a point in sending out a servant to do a job she could do herself. Especially if it allowed her to look and make sure everything she wanted was exactly what she wanted. To that point she opened the box and looked over the perfumes and soaps inside. She took out the two bottles of perfume and sprayed a bit to make sure they were the correct scent before she smiled and put them neatly back in their box.

The Viscount hardly considered it his business who Tobi looked out, let alone who she got close to. They had married out of convenience and while quite close, their relationship was not a romantic one, nor even one of any level of sexual interest. Though he still considered her family and a close friend and sometimes, if he didn't think about it too hard, concluded that if anyone was to be the mother of his children, it would be October. Of course, that had fit so much better when her dear brother was still alive. Though it had only been after his death that the two of them became so close.
"I did," he said, adding another candle and indeed some lavender infused soaps to her small hoard. He busied himself counting out silver and copper rings for payment while she inspected the specially ordered perfumes. He didn't like carrying money on him, but when Tobi wanted to go shopping, he knew better. The lady had her way of doing things and he wasn't about to put up a fight over it. Pay for it though he might, he stepped outside to politely request the carriage driver collect and load everything.
Luckily the seamstress was only another block down. Pearce offered Tobi his arm for the short stroll. "Another month and it will be too cold to shop," he pointed out, quietly suggesting she be sure to get everything she thought she needed for winter. Though, supplies were looking to be less impacted due to snow and weather than due to war.

October adored and loved Pearce very dearly. Not as one might love a spouse but also not like one might love a sibling. Pearce existed outside of any other relationship she had with anyone else. And she was fine with that. Being married to him was comfortable. She had a perfectly happy life and loved being able to be close to someone she considered such a dear friend. Her being the affectionate sort as it was did help stamp the idea that they were a loving married couple at least. Which, October thought they were.
Pearce could be with whoever he wanted and so could she. They didn't feel the need to involve themselves too greatly in their romantic or sexual endeavors. Just as much as she'd sworn to keep his and her brothers secret when she was young she still swore to keep his secret with anyone else now. And while their relationship wasn't sexual by any means October did want a child with Pearce. As much as she knew he wanted one as well. It was just...difficult.
She took his arm as he offered it to her again and chuckled as he claimed it would be too cold to go shopping. "Never too cold to go shopping," she teased. But he was right. Sometimes the snow wasn't and the chill wasn't worth it. But that was entirely the reason she was going to the seamstress. There were somethings she wanted to pick up for the coming cold. More than she'd grabbing going to pick up some more perfumes. She'd had a new suit and coat made for Pearce as well as a new dress and coat made for her and Persephone. As well as a few things such as gloves and scarves. Some warmer things with the weather getting colder. Not that they didn't have things to keep them warm. But it never hurt to have a little extra.
"I got a gift here for you, I hope you like it," she said as they got closer to the store. The door opened with the small chime of a bell and they were greeted by an older woman with her hair pulled into a tight bun on her head. "Lord and Lady Lockheed, always a pleasure," she greeted as they stepped closer. "Afternoon, Greta. Are my things ready?"
"Of course, if you'd like to step back and try them on," October wished Persephone had come along to try on her new things. But she trusted the woman knew their sizes well by now.

The viscount had always know he would marry a woman. It hadn't been merely expected of him, but very much required by his family. It hadn't been negotiable and of the few battles he had fought and lost, that had always been one he simply gave in. Because he had a duty to his family more than anything, regardless of what his father said. Pearce had resigned himself to always wanting something he couldn't quite have. But at least with Tobi, he felt...comfortable. Far more than he would have ever thought possible.
The blonde even handled small gestures of affection in both directions. He loved her. Not romantically, but certainly more than just a friend. Their relationship was different than what he had with his sisters even. Some of that stemmed from their shared struggle to be themselves. Tobi was a kindred spirit. A secret keeper. A best friend. Someone he was elated to spent his life with. Even when she talked about him behind his back with his sister, or chided him about eating dinner, or dragged him on her day long shopping sprees. They had spent years together, just the two of them. Before, when they got married, they had talked about starting a family together too, but they had been young and ambitious and now...well, Pearce had always accepted he would never have children, despite it being the one thing he wanted more than anything in the world. But that was okay. He was an uncle. And Persephone might have her own kids one day too.
Pearce made a noise of disbelief deep in his throat, but let Tobi drag him along. "P-p-perhaps for you," he noted. Not that the blonde was particularly prone to illness, but he would very much prefer being somewhere toasty and comfortable than outside. He didn't get along with nature all that much. But he wouldn't say no to warmer clothes either.
At the mention of a gift he blushed. Of course she had. He cared very little that it was their money and more that she had thought of it. "I like almost everything you give me," he said softly. It was both true and a bit pathetic, not wanting her to think he didn't appreciate it.
The viscount nodded in greeting to the shopkeeper. He had always liked Greta, but despite the numerous visits, her more severe nature was intimidating. Besides, Pearce always felt a little off balance going door to door. His anxiety made balancing his social need....awkward.
"I should think Lady Lockheed knows mmmmy size by now," he made the joke gently. He had absolutely no desire to remove any of his current clothing in public. Even if Tobi had merely commissioned him a new coat, the removal of even that singular article of fabric would be entirely too much stripping for him.
Greta moved to a back room to retrieve three rather large bundles, setting them on the counter for the pair to inspect. Pearce would let Tobi open them, not wanting to open the wrong one. He could lift up and inpect the new coat for him though. "I do like green," he noted quietly and he held up the long tailcoat. It was a lot softer than he was expecting. "What mat...mat...material?"

October leaned on Pearce a lot. He offered her comfort, emotional support. He was a constant and safe haven for her when everything else felt out of control. They'd talked about having children before. Thought it certainly shouldn't be that hard. But while October found Pearce very handsome there just wasn't that attraction to him. And he clearly wasn't interested in her sexually. But she wanted to be a mother so badly. So much that thinking about it felt like someone was squeezing her heart. She loved being an Aunt and she had friends with children as well but it wasn't the same. While Pearce had seemed to become more or less content with never having children October was not.
When he mentioned her knowing his size by now she couldn't help but chuckle softly. "All these years I'd be quite upset with myself if I didn't," especially with how little he ate. Which was something October got onto him about often. He and his sister both ate like birds. At least Persephone showed some honest interest in some foods though. Pearce just seemed entirely indifferent to food in general. There were some things he liked but even those he didn't seem usually interested in. Had it not been for her and Heather encouraging him she was certain he'd be nothing but skin and bone by now.
She opened the boxes as they were set down. A matching set for her and Pearce to wear out. Though hers was a bit more intricate and with more lace. "Polar Fleece, m'lord," Greta informed with a slightly proud smile. Always direct to business with her. "Should be much warmer and thicker than your other coats without worrying about all those little pills that come up."
"Beautiful work as always, Greta," October said with a very pleased smile as she closed up the boxes. "You never cease to surprise me," the woman gave her a small curtsey before she moved to finish packing up the boxes. "I always aim to please."

Pearce smiled. October was quite particular about things. But her attention to detail in some areas matches his in others. He had always liked that about her. He would has disliked the notion that he was skin and bone however. Certainly he was slender and could do to gain a few pounds but he was hardly starving. He had enough muscle to dance and would argue he didn't need anymore. Just because he could afford everything to eat didn't mean he should eat it. Others would go hungry. He only didn't eat when he was anxious. That just happened to be often.
It certainly felt thick and warm. He nodded approvingly. Trading a bit more weight for warmth worked for him. He would have liked more lace too, but he couldn't get away with that in the same way as she could. "You's looks lovely," he added of Tobi's fancier matching coat. Of course he did expect this longer one of his would make him look quite dashing.
"Yes, b-beautiful," he echoed Tobi's compliment.
As they finished inside, the carriage driver arrived with the carriage to load the additional boxes on top. Pearce browsed some of the other fabrics Hreta had on display but as Tobinhad seen too their winter fashion, he was happy to return to Brighthollow. "Are you ready to return home, d-darling? He asked.

October would have loved to get Pearce something as equally elegant and soft but he was already teased enough as it was. While she thought he looked rather dashing with a bit more lace or lighter colors many others would think it was far too feminine. On top of how they already looked at him for how gentle and soft spoken he was. She let the driver put the things back in the carriage before she turned her attention back to her husband.
The question on getting home made her smile softly. "We can go now, I'm getting a bit peckish anyway," she said as she linked her arm back with his. October also had a feeling Pearce just wanted to get back to the comfort of the manor. Which she was fine with. While he might not have been as interested in eating October loved a good meal. She loved a good glass of wine even more. "I'm excited to give your sister her gifts anyway."

Pearce was glad to go home. Not that he was looking forward to the carriage hour of a couple hours. Even with cushions, it would be a bit bouncy. At least Tobi was good company.
He smiled as she mentioned being a bit hungry. She was always hungry. Hopefully she could make it the ride home. "If you're hungry perhaps we find a snack? For...for the ride home?" he suggested gently. That was something he would pass on, considering he wasn't really hungry anyway.
"Ah, yes. Persephone will be...quiet upset she wasn't invited to join us," he murmured. Not that he seriously thought that she would be mad or that they had to always invite his sister, but sometimes he felt a bit bad for leaving her out. He didn't want her to feel left out. He was glad Tobi always had a way of helping show some appreciation to her.
Once Tobi had repacked everything, he helped her into the carriage, following after her. Pearce was quiet initially, letting out a soft sigh and wishing the cushions were half as comfortable as his armchair in his study in Brighthollow. He was at least glad he didn't have to pretend when it was just him and Tobi. It was difficult to think of her as his wife, let alone act like it. Not that it was a lie. According to the law, they were married.

"A snack would be lovely," she agreed. October did love food. She also spent so much of her time on the move. Always doing something whether it was dancing, going for walks, archery, shopping, or helping Persephone with her fencing. She wasn't one to often sit still. Not that she didn't enjoy a quiet moment reading a nice book in the library. But all that movement required she kept her energy up some how. "Only if you'll get one with me," she enticed. Even if it was something small, even if he only nibbled at it, October wanted Pearce to have something.
October found no issue with thinking of Pearce as her husband but perhaps that could have been a number of reasons. She'd barely been twenty when they got married and October had never felt a love for anyone like he had for her brother. Certainly she'd had deep feelings for other people but she wasn't sure she could call it love. Not really. October was so certain she would know when she fell in love with someone. Everyone made it seem so clear and cut. That it was this all powerful emotion that would just consume her very being. So certainly October would know that when she felt it.
The idea that Persephone would be upset that she wasn't invited along made October giggle. She loved shopping with the young woman. And while Persephone seemed to enjoy shopping as well she also seemed to get easily overwhelmed if there were too many people. "I'll just have to make it up to her later," she said with a small smile. Once they were both in the carriage she leaned back with a soft sigh of her own. She was quiet for a moment in thought before, a bit more serious, she spoke up. "Pearce, there's something I wanted to talk to you about tonight," perhaps now would be better.
She'd planned on bringing it up over dinner but maybe that wasn't for the best? If she managed to get him to eat with her she didn't want to ruin what little appetite he had.

He nodded as she figuratively nudged him to eat something too. Pearce had never had a very large appetite, even when he was younger. It wasn't as if he was trying to starve himself or anything of the sort, he just would either forget to eat while working (even if brought food) or found the idea of most food, even ones he liked, unappetizing. Most of this he put down to various nerves. As long as he avoided fainting in front of Tobi or his sister, he would be fine and could avoid one of them summoning a doctor.
The Viscount looked up from where he was stretched out on the cushioned seat across from Tobi. "Is everything alright, Tobi?" He asked gently. He looked her up and down. She seemed alright physically. And he was certain they had gotten nearly everything she wanted from shopping. Did she want a larger allowance or perhaps to organize a visit for her family? Maybe ask after a new horse or another pet. None of that seemed quite the right fit for her tone.
