Name: Pearce Lockheed
Face Claim: Chad Michael Murray Age: 44 Birth Season: Autumn Physical Description: Pearce has hazel eyes and is 6'3", his height juxtaposed with his introverted and quiet persona. He's more fit than athletic, and a bit on the thin side. As with many Manthirans, he has blonde hair and usually keeps it short and combed back. He prefers to keep a short, trimmed beard rather than go entirely clean shaven. His taste in fashion and clothes is immaculate and he is never under dressed and always clean, smelling most commonly of lavender and other floral scents. He managed to avoid too many injuries during his military service, but his high anxiety is more than noticeable in his twitchy mannerisms and stammer.
Family: Wife | Viscountess October "Tobi" Lockheed | 37 | OPEN Siblings | OPEN
Rank: Viscount Occupation: Instructor, Noble Home: Brighthollow Estate, Manthir Brighthollow Estate is located south of Valur. The family has a smaller town home in the heart of the capital. Pearce lets this out occasionally. Combat Experience: Like most nobles, he was forced through combat training, though it became very clear he wasn't particularly physically inclined. He generally knows how to hold lots of weapons and could theoretically defend himself. Education: The viscount took much better to book learning, enjoying piano and dance. He took a specific interest in history, reading what little texts he could find and learning the languages he could, which amounted to a spattering of Lutrian and the text of the Commonwealth. Magic: Perhaps surprisingly, Pearce is quite skilled with his magic. Since he first began his love affair with books, he began using the magic to try and take notes on his arms. Better than wasting ink, after all. While he isn't skilled enough to maintain a living tattoo, he can achieve very fine detail, enough to form letters with more consistent font than if he had written it by hand. He's not very practiced with covering a large area of his skin.
Personality: Pearce is a very anxious, albeit adorable, man. He is far from the typical confident or overbearing nobleman, preferring piano or paperwork or dance to combat and socializing with lots of people. Although intimidated by large crowds and men, he is a social butterfly and craves one on one interactions with neighbors, family, local shop keepers, and students.
The man is one of the kindest and most sincere people on Fjall. He doesn't possess the capacity to do harm and even swearing of being too rough makes him nervous. Pearce is a generous and loyal friend to those who earn his trust, though he is also a push over and somewhat easily taken advantage of.
Unfortunately, many things make him uncomfortable or apt to lose his lunch. He faints at the slightest sight of blood. He has tried to work on his stammer since he was a boy, but when he is really nervous, which is often, it's harder to control. When he's nervous, he tries not to talk so much.
History: The Lockheeds are an old but small family and have been a minor house in Manthir since the kingdom became what it is today. The family estate is in the central region of the kingdom, but to the south, a few hours ride from the capital. Their wealth is predominantly in the ownership of land and specifically in land rich in ores, minerals, and stone suitable for building. They run a few mines as well as quarries and have acquired a lot of physical wealth in addition to their land. Occasionally, lords of the house have served on the king's council.
The senior Lord Lockheed was a troubled and malicious man, though he was never the sort to express his anger outwardly. Rather he directed it at his family in private, abusing his wife and children to different degrees. One of his major disappointments was his eldest son, who was not the powerful alpha male and knight he wanted him to be.
Pearce was always timid growing up. His father abused him verbally and somewhat physically in an effort to get him to toughen up, but that was far from the worst the man did to him. Pearce was more interested in the history of war and reading about smithing than he was in taking part in actual combat. More apt to be found practicing his footwork for a dance than for swordplay. More inclined to learn piano than the bow.
After a few years studying abroad in Taknier and visiting the Commonwealth one, he was forced to serve in the Duke of Ramberaht's army as an officer, seeing his fair share of battle and only making his anxiety over the sight of blood worse. When he was 22, his father died suddenly, putting him in charge of his family. He immediately shifted his goals to support his younger siblings and make the mines successful and profitable without taxing the works so steeply. With management of these under proper hired hands, he turned his free time to becoming a historian of sorts, finding himself summoned as an instructor for the young prince Jasper Rost and his siblings in literature and history, as well as helping in some other areas.
Despite his attention to etiquette and easy social manner, Pearce never had many close friends. Most noblemen considered him a pansy and were more interested in potentially marrying his sisters for money. He himself was far more interested in men than women, but after his father's treatment of him, felt more family pressure than social pressure to keep that to himself. There was one man, August, whom he became close with in his early twenties, the second son of an Earl. August was a naval lieutenant, training to captain his own ship one day. He died when his ship was caught in a bad storm and lost at sea. Pearce and Tobi, August's younger sister, married out of family pressure and in the hope of covering up the fact that neither of them have any interest in the opposite sex. The two are friendly and pretend to have romantic feelings for each other. Every so often, they discuss the topic of children and family legacy.
