Jasper didn't expect the man to give in easily, nor did he want him to. He wanted a fight. He wanted resistance and push back. Even if that push back was simply dodging out of the way of his blade. Admittedly though his own stamina was starting to take a toll. It chipped away as his breath turned to soft panting. Close enough now to really get a close look at the mans eyes.
He watched the way his hands moved, the color of his eyes. Far more distracting than he wanted to admit. Jasper said he wouldn't use his hands on the man but he had an urge to breath that promise for an entirely different reason. But he pushed those thoughts to the side. Chasing a man with a blade was hardly the time to worry about the dry spell he'd been having.
Besides, he was never one to assume another man was interested in men just because he found them attractive. He reached out his other hand though as if he was going to grab him again without actually touching him as he thrust his sword forward again.

This close and much more focused on his opponent, he couldn't hide his eyes from the man. The pale blue and grey that didn't match up with his dark hair. They bore none of the haziness from natural or inflicted blindness, but there was something...unnatural about the color. Hunt avoided putting his hands on the man. It was a waste of energy and attaching himself to the man only left him closer and more open to being hit.
Jasper might have avoided purposefully reflecting light into his eyes again, but with the thin shifting clouds above and his focus on their exercise, there were a few moment he had to blink away inadvertent flickers of light or close his eyes. Most he shrugged oof. But it wore on him. As Jasper readied his next strike, the glare caught him more directly. The captain winced, putting out his hand to call an end to their spar considering both of them were opperating on fumes.
Before he could speak, Jasper's free hand caught his wrist and if not for that incidental contact, he would have taken a sword to the chest. Hunt moved automatically, spinning away from the man and launching him away with his momentum. "Enough," he said, stepping back and out if the ring and gripping his temples, shading his eyes. He grumbled to himself in Taknier, a mixture of swearing and berating himself. Stupid of him for trying to show off.
He was blissfully unaware to how close he had been to being skewered. "You're quite good," he said, straightening himself up. He was still panting but trying to shrug off his discomfort as his gaze reassessed the Prince. How long had they gone? Minutes? Longer than he let most people. He hadn't gotten such good practice in a while.

As the man suddenly brought his hand up Jasper's breath caught in his throat for a moment. He grabbed his wrist on instinct before he suddenly launched himself back. The Prince let him go and lowered his sword, realizing how close he'd been to really impaling the other man. He dropped his sword once more as he watched the way he gripped his temples. His chest rose and fell as his heart pounded in his chest. His own sweat dripped down his face, over his collarbone, and soaked into his shirt. It made the top cling to his taught frame, hinting at the muscle underneath.
No one had given him such a good challenge in a spar in some time. "Are you alright, Hunt?" He asked in worry still. Clearly his eyes were bothering him again. Jasper pushed some of the strains of his wild blonde hair back from his face as he stepped slightly closer. Though he kept a healthy space between them. As he didn't want to overcrowd the man.
The compliment made him smile softly. "As are you." He returned as he worked to leveling his breathing again.

For a long moment, he focused on his breathing and calming his adrenaline. The pain would go away eventually. Thankfully there was no snow on the ground. That always made things worse. But masks and veils weren't exactly subtle Manthiran fashion. He preferred to avoid giving his superiors anymore stupid reasons to demote him or worse. He didn't know where else do go besides the army.
He glanced up at his name, fully meeting the Prince's gaze, his own eyes tight with pain. Yes. the man knew his name but had they ever introduced before? Certainly the Prince hadn't but he shouldn't be expected too. In Taknier, he would have been ridiculed and worse for ignoring proper decorum. He gaze slid over the blonde man, sweat slick on his chest, the snake moving along his arm, that concerned look in his eyes.
Hunt looked away at the question, gritting his teeth and moving to collect his sword and cloak, lowering his body heat a bit gradually to compensate for overheating. It was difficult not to give into the man's concern. "It's just an illness. You need not concern yourself." Perhaps some small explanation would be enough. He would be fine after resting his eyes.
"Unfortunately, I need to return to...the outpost. We likely won't do this again." Or meet again. Of course he made frequent trips to the capital for reports, but the Prince did not need to know this.

Jasper gave the man a moment to catch his breath and collect himself. Which thankfully gave him time to do the same as he took some deep, steady breaths to calm his pounding heart. It had been far too long since someone really got his blood pumping like that. Still, he kept his eyes trained on the man with him. Just to make sure he wouldn't need to call for some kind of medic to attend to him.
Of course Jasper realized he likely should have introduced himself. It was rude not to. But there wasn't exactly anyone in Manthir that didn't know him and the other man hadn't exactly introduced himself either. He supposed they were both uncouth. As he stated that it was an illness that caused the pain in his eyes the Prince nodded. He didn't pressure any further as to what could be wrong. Clearly the man wasn't interested in sharing and the Prince was no healer.
When he claimed he needed to return to the outpost the Prince nodded with a polite smile. Though the idea that they wouldn't do this again seemed strange. Mostly just the way he said it. Did the man have an issue with him personally? Was it was because he was Manthir royalty? Jasper tried not to think about it too hard. "I wish you well." He said with a polite smile and a salute.
