Name: Hunt Valier Face Claim: Matt Dallas Age: 22 Birth Season: Winter Physical Description: Hunt is 6" tall with black hair and pale blue eyes. His lighter eyes make him stand out from other Taknier, due in part to being marked by a disease he survived at birth. He does his best to look well put together, but as a soldier, it's clear he has better things to worry about that grooming. Hunt has a lot of minor scars.
Family: Pending
Rank: Exile Occupation: Manthiran Army Captain Home: Manthir Combat Experience: From a very young age, he wanted to be a soldier, and in Taknier, this is beyond encouraged. He's most skilled with a blade, his precision and agility, and experience second to none. He also skilled with a bow. With almost any other weapon, he knows how to hold it, but doesn't profess much skill. In Taknier, swordmanship is an art as well as a combat skill. Hunt turned his abilities to becoming a professional (and sometimes underground) duelist. Education: His education was extensive like any nobleman, leaning heavily on the arts of war and foreign relations. While he was trained in various arts, it is clear he had a love for swordsmanship over all else. He speaks Imperial and Taknieri and knows some Lutrian. Magic: Inner Flame
Personality: Aloof would be one word for the foreign soldier's personality. He has a quiet sureness about him, however and is serious more often than he is not. Hunt has a clam and comforting aura about him. He doesn't speak up often, though he is hardly shy. Hunt is quite opinionated and passionately so, considering he joined a fight for a kingdom that isn't even his.
He is known to be quite reckless, especially when it comes to the safety of his fellow soldiers. It can be difficult to get him to open up and he has very few friends, though
Living as an exile in Manthir can be difficult, being a foreign officer means he faces more scrutiny. He's comfortable having eyes on him, but prefers not to be the center of attention.
History:
Hunt was born Hunt XXX Tarvalier, firstborn of Emperor Karth Tarvalier and the First Prince of Taknier.
As with all Taknieri children, he was raised in a communal school, learning to read and write, learning about culture, learning self defense, side by side with children from all walks of life. He was raised in a small town, outside of the capital, where, if only for a while, he could be a child and dream of any life he wanted. Of course, while he was not claimed as such, everyone knew who he would be one day. His teachers and instructors were particularly critical but also particularly supportive. through out his life, he was forced to weird a veil or hood or mask. He was told this was to protect his eyes, which were sensitive to light, but he now realizes it was also to protect his identity.
When he was very young, he knew he wanted to be a knight. So he learned to ride, to fight, the way of the sword and military tactics. Around the time he was ten, his mother first visited him and he was informed of who he was. After that, he was taken to the capital, where his early life continued to be focused on combat, but also on court life, politics, other cultures, dancing, arts and sciences, and anything else his tutors and family deemed suitable for the man who would one day lead an empire. It was then that he bonded with his Caretaker, the man he would look to as a father figure.
After completing hsi coming of age trial (he was tasked to hunt a XXX on the open tundra and return with its pelt, very archaic), he was claimed by his parents and took up his name and rank at age XXX. Even then, he was forced to hide his eyes from others, his father not wanting anyone to know that he had been afflicted from birth, as it was taken as a sign of weakness and an ill omen.
He drowned on a river cruise to tour the north provinces. The small craft was sinking and the boy refused to jump ship to help his brother, saving his life at the risk of his own. His Caretaker saved his life in turn, reviving him on the bank. Hunt as never been a fan of boats, but he has never said this to anyone.
Although he excelled at court life, it was oppressive and he found solace in his swordsmanship and his horse. Due to his sensitive (and sometimes flat our terrible) eyesight, he often practiced with a solid blindfold. Eventually, bored of the usual instructors, he snuck out and joined an underground duelist ring. And that is where the legend of the Ghost was born.

Upon his exile, he assumed the false identity he had made as a duelist.
He's pretty tight lipped about it, but it's clear from the way he speaks, carries himself, and holds a sword that he used to be Taknieri nobility of some kind. One very, very invested in combat.
He used to be a duelist. A rather famous one. It was an occupation highly frowned upon by his family, of course - noblemen were expected to know how to fight, but not to risk their lives over pointless displays of skill for the entertainment of others. Which was why he took part in secret and under the moniker of the Silver Ghost. He started in the underground, more or less illegal, circuit, but quickly proved his skill and earned sponsorships to compete officially and against named and ranked swordsmen.
Hunt was a close friend to the some of the Princes, having gone through school with them (like many) and was particularly close to the First Prince. When his friend and his brother were slain by unknown assassins, Hunt started asking a lot of questions. Apparently too many and too publicly, because soon enough, he found himself exiled, stripped of his family name and rank and forced to leave his homeland.
He is not alone in a recent wave of many new exiles, forced to leave for various reasons, but all of them for speaking up against what the government has told them to be true. Like many, he took a new last name to show his enduring support of his homeland. Many, like Hunt, take a variation on the name of the Imperial family.
Since then, he has traveled to Manthir in response to their unanswered call for aid at their northern border, hoping to put his skills to good use and to forget about his past. He was quickly made a captain for his skill and battle knowledge.
